Booking an online  cookery class.

​

Please nominate one person from your group to communicate with us. Your nominated person may contact us at virginiacookery@gmail.com to make a booking.

A minimum number of attendees is agreed with Virginia-Cookery and the nominated person.We like to have a minimum of six participants.Less than six may have a higher fee.

Duration of online cookery programme

Our cookery programme is usually four classes each being 45 minutes to one hour long . Alternative arrangements may be made. Please contact us at virginiacookery@gmail.com to discus alternative arrangements.

Food Allergies

Payment

Payment is made by bank transfer to Virginia-Cookery. We will provide bank details.

One payment is made covering all four classes in an online group cookery programme. Once-off classes are priced individually.

Recipes, class preparation information along with Zoom log in details will be sent on receipt of payment.

​

 

Refund of online classes

There is no refund if you do not attend an online class for any reason. In the event of cancellations by us, we will refund classes on a pro rata basis.

Recording cookery sessions                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Cookery sessions may be recorded by us  and a short summerised edited version uploaded to You Tube.                                                                                                   Recordings do not include images of attendees without their permission.

Cookery class etiquette  

You may or may not know the people attending with you. Please respect each other. We reserve the right to disconnect your online access should your behaviour be considered inappropriate or disruptive. 

We reserve the right to request you leave an in-person class should your behaviour be considered inappropriate or disruptive.

Class content

Class content menus and recipes are subject to change. We reserve the right to alter or amend class content, menus and recipes. The duration (length)of our classes is approximate as food may take a little longer (or shorter) to prepare and cook.

Booking an In-Person Cookery Classes

A minimum number of attendees is agreed with Virginia-Cookery and the nominated person.We like to have a minimum of six participants.Less than six may have a higher fee. 

Please arrive 10 minutes before in-person class and enjoy a welcome tea or coffee. If your preferred class is fully booked, please request to be placed on the waiting list and we will contact you if a cancellation occurs.

Safety

  • You will receive a safety briefing and safety handout on commencement of in-person class. We ask you to comply with safety information and instructions

  • Here are some important safety points that we wish to bring to your attention.

  • As participants of a cookery programme, you have a responsibility to yourself and your fellow participants to conduct your work in a safe and considerate manner.

  •  We will ask you to sign-in on arrival at in-person classes for safety reasons.

  •  During adult and child in-person classes sessions adults are responsible for supervising the children under their care. A child may be accompanied out of the kitchen/classroom by their guardian. A parent may accompany only his or her own child out of the kitchen during the session. 

  • Smoking is not permitted on the premises for in-person classes.  

                                                                                                                                                              

  • When cooking (in person class or atttending online ) please

             Wear sensible footwear; low heels with non-slip soles, toes and heels enclosed                                                                                                                            L                   Please tie back long hair (not a swinging ponytail)                                                

             No jewellery or bands or on wrists                                                                        

             Only wear a plain band ring

  • ​Aprons are provided for in-person classes.                                                                                       â€‹

  •  We strongly advise that you stay to eat the hot food you cooked on site, for example, soups and stews. If cooked food is not stored above 63°C, it should be used up within two hours of cooking.

  • Guests who we consider are unsuitable for any reason, may be required to leave, either immediately or within a specified time in line with our Safety Statement.

  • Please follow government and health service guidance at home and in class related to Covid. You may inspect our Safety Statement, insurance policy and the building owner’s insurance policy in person.

Food Allergies, in-person classes 

We are unable to take your booking if you have a food allergy.

Adult and Child in-person classes

During adult and child cookery classes, adults are responsible for supervising their accompanying child. An adult may accompany only the child he or she is attending with, out of the kitchen during the session. The cookery tutor may accompany the child and adult together. The tutor will not accompany the child alone unless in case of emergency, for example an injury to adult or child.                                                                                                                                                      Children attending as part of a group outing for example, a sports club, must have the club staff, supervisor or leader who normally supervises club activities present during cookery class and mealtimes. Virginia-Cookery will not be responsible for supervision of children outside the cookery room. (Extract 6.1 Adult and Child from Cook It! Safety Statement V 4 April 2019)

Photography during cookery classes

The term Photography includes social media, video, Whats app Snap-chat, Zoom and any other images. All these come under the general term photographs in the text below.

You may take photographs, but we ask that you remain sensitive to the privacy of others. Please get permission from the people in the photograph before taking photographs. Virginia-Cookery will take no responsibility for photographs images or text that are placed or shared on social media by third parties.            We (Virginia-Cookery) will seek your verbal permission before we take photographs during cookery classes. We will show you the photograph and seek your consent to add the photographs taken by us to the Virginia-Cookery website and social media page or print media. If you do not consent to this usage, the photographs will be deleted from our camera. Consent for photography will be obtained.

We will seek your consent in identifying the photograph for example “A happy group of visitors from Donegal taking part in All Things Irish cookery class”. We will not name guests.

We reserve the right to post photographs of food or dishes cooked by you without permission.

Photographs of course participants under 18 years of age will not be posted by us.

 

Booking an in-person class 

How to book a class.

Contact us by email or through our website to make an initial booking. You are not required to make payment at this initial booking stage. After the initial booking we will contact you to remind you to make your payment. We will confirm your booking on receipt of payment.

Fees and payment

Fee payments by bank transfer to Virginia-Cookery. We will provide bank details.

 

Cancellations of in-person class 

Please email, text, or submit our Contact us form if you are cancelling. Please contact us as soon as possible. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible so that we can offer your place to someone else.

We reserve the right to cancel classes and we will provide a full refund should we cancel. Classes may be cancelled if we do not have the minimum number of participants.

 

Refund of fees and alternative dates for in-person classes

Notice of cancellation

Notice is calculated up to the start time for the class, or the start time of the first class in a course or series of classes.

Our refund policy is set out below. An administration fee will be retained from refunds.

·        In the event of a cancellation by us, payment made by you can be transferred to a future class or returned to you. Transferring may incur a cost if you                   choose a more expensive class; or a refund if you choose a less expensive class. We will advise you regarding costs. 

·        With fourteen days’ notice of cancellation, you may transfer to another class, or send another in your place or a 90% refund

·        Between thirteen days' and eight days’ notice of cancellation you may transfer to another class, or send another in your place, or an 80% refund.

·        With seven days’ or less notice you may not transfer to another class, but you are welcome to send another in your place, or a 50% refund.

·        Fees will not be refunded, nor will alternative dates be facilitated if you miss a class or course, or part of a series of classes, because of your illness or for   

         any other reason.​

Contact data

Virginia-Cookery communicates by email telephone and text. Persons who sign up to our mailing list may unsubscribe at any time. We do not share your information. We do not share our mailing list. We record your name, address, phone number, country, and email for booking purposes and communication in the case of cancellations or choosing alternative classes. About our menus

We are happy to discuss all menus and consider reasonable substitutions with regard to time restrictions (the length of classes), seasonal ingredients and local produce. Menus on this website are for illustrative purpose. Please contact us to discuss what we can do to facilitate your preferences.

About your experience

Cookery classes are open to people of all abilities. If you have special needs, please contact us so that we can make every effort to facilitate you.

About our facilities for in-person class 

Virginia-Cookery classes taking place at Virginia Show Centre, Virginia, Co. Cavan, Ireland. A82 A9X2. We use freestanding electric cookers. We have ample space at all our cookery tables. the building is accessible with a lift and free parking on the grounds. We are on the first floor.
